Atlantic Yards would:

Contain the same amount of development as 23 Williamsburgh Savings Banks

Generate over 20,000 new vehicle trips every day with no plan to avoid gridlock

Contain affordable housing that won't be affordable to average Brooklynites

Potentially be built without significant input from New Yorkers

Forecasters can be wrong, but this seems to be a dangerous storm. We were bringing a contingent of 4 people with us and everyone has said that although they very much wanted to attend, traveling in dangerous weather just doesn't make sense.

My experience, having been in this fight from the beginning, is that turnouts in extreme heat and cold are always considerably lower than we had hoped for. We have a huge amount of support, but asking people to travel in serious weather conditions seems irresponsible. Can the weather forecasts be monitored and by a certain time, an alternate plan be suggested?

The people living closest to the church might have less of a problem, but walking in a severe storm from the surrounding communities is insane and public transportation is always impacted in such conditions. Driving is hazardous.

There are just facts on the ground that should be considered. A lot of effort went into publicizing this rally and it seems to have struck a chord. It would be a shame for it to not have the impact it should because of a situation beyond anyone's control.
