Atlantic Yards would:

Contain the same amount of development as 23 Williamsburgh Savings Banks

Generate over 20,000 new vehicle trips every day with no plan to avoid gridlock

Contain affordable housing that won't be affordable to average Brooklynites

Potentially be built without significant input from New Yorkers

Submitting comments to ESDC

Before the state can approve the project, the project must go through an environmental review process, known as SEQR, which requires the state and developer to take a “hard look” at the environmental impacts of the project. The Draft of the Environmental Impact Statement (known as the DEIS) was released on July 18th and opened for a period of public comment through September 29th at 5.30pm. After the comment period closes, the state must respond to the comments before releasing a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). After the FEIS is released, the state can vote to approve the project.

Until September 29th, you can still submit comments about Atlantic Yards to the Empire State Development Corporation as part of the environmental review. For more information on submitting comments, please visit the Council of Brooklyn Neighborhoods (CBN) by clicking here.
