Dear Governor Cuomo and SLA Chairman Rosen:

Barclays Center wants a license to open an 18,000-seat bar with no cut off time. That’s not appropriate for a residential neighborhood, and it won’t work for Brooklyn.

Barclays’ license must be limited to serving drinks during ticketed arena events only, and must mandate an end to liquor sales after half time at an NBA game, 45 minutes before the end of an event, or at 10PM—whichever comes first. Not just at the 40 Nets home games, but at the other 180 arena events expected each year, too.

We call on the New York State Liquor Authority to reject any application to allow liquor sales at Barclays Center unless it contains these stipulations.

Thank you for your interest in making alcohol sales at Barclays Center accountable to the public.
